Artist, Merritt Chilton, has been working professionally in her field for over 17 years. Studying at the North East School of the Arts, she excelled at drawing and painting and continued on to the University of North Texas and, now, at the University of Texas at San Antonio she continues to advance her skills.

Merritt is accomplished in painting, both acrylic and oil-based mediums, graphite, charcoal, pastel and prisma colored pencils. In 2015 she expanded  her craft in sculpture, photography, printmaking and new media as well. During her internship at the San Antonio Museum of Art she gained a broad knowledge of art, its history and incorporates all aspects of the works of the great masters while inflicting her own personal yet relatable twist to how we perceive our world today. Her goal is to bring change and reform through the use of familiar images in the hopes that it may relate to the viewer both iconically and emotionally.

She is a founding member of Hijole SA art studio at BlueStar Arts Complex. She has shown expressive new work there every month for the past year with intentions to show bi-weekly in the time to come.

Merritt has been contracted as a freelance artist for portraits, figure drawings, custom paintings and murals for clients regionally in San Antonio, Austin, Denton, Dallas, Houston, San Leon, Texas City and New Orleans.

Her work has been sold at the 500X Gallery in Dallas to collectors and has been showcased at Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum where she is currently an active member.
